About the GMC Hummer EV SUV
Most vehicles are built to fill a specific market niche, with considerations for price and projected sales volume being at the top of the priority list. But that’s not the case with the GMC Hummer EV SUV. No, this is a machine built to showcase just how advanced GM EV technology really is, and just how capable a vehicle it can make. This zero-compromise approach has given us an all-electric drivetrain that produces simply incredible power and the rugged construction needed to use that power however you want. The Hummer EV is an excellent adventure vehicle in more traditional ways as well, with a comfortable and spacious interior with lots of cargo room, as well as removable roof panels, adjustable air suspension, and an impressive Bose® stereo system. This truly is the ultimate electric SUV.
What the Critics Say
“The Hummer EV SUV defies a lot of expectations. It accelerates like a sports car, handles like it’s thousands of pounds lighter, and charms with the improbability of it all. There’s not much on-pavement grip, but it’s capable off-road, and you’ll never have to worry about sucking water into the intake. There’s a lot of weight here, but there’s also a lot of everything. Born of attitude and consequently full of attitude, the Hummer EV SUV left us thoroughly entertained.” – Car and Driver
“Despite being five inches wider than a Suburban, the Hummer shined. The air suspension lets it lean a little but it feels more like a 4000-lb crossover than the spiritual successor to the U.S. military’s go-to troop hauler. Even on tight turns, the steering rarely required more than 45-degrees of input. The rear steer programming is very good.” – Road and Track
What’s New for 2025
The Hummer EV is still quite new, so updates for 2025 are minor, but still ones that buyers will appreciate. These amount to two new paint colors, Solar Orange and Graphite Blue Metallic.
GMC Hummer EV SUV Features

Extreme Capability
The Hummer EV comes with your choice of either a 2- or 3-motor electric drivetrain. Both are incredibly powerful, with the 2X configuration producing 570 horsepower and 7,400 lb-ft of torque. The 3X configuration turns things up even more with 830 horsepower and 11,550 lb-ft of torque, that’s less torque than you’d get in a locomotive, but several times what you’d get in a semi, just for perspective. Even with all of that power, the Hummer EV still offers competitive range, 318 miles for the 2X and 312 miles for the 3X, on par with what you’d get in a far less powerful EV. To go with that power, there is an Adaptive Air Ride suspension system that can be raised as much as six inches at the push of a button, allowing you to easily clear obstacles. The SUV version of the Hummer EV has a wheelbase that’s almost nine inches shorter than the pickup version, for better maneuverability on or off the road. To go with this, there is four-wheel steering, and CRABWALK™, which allows you to move diagonally for extreme off-road conditions or easier parallel parking, depending on what kind of day you’re planning.

Iconic Design
Neither the Hummer EV nor the previous gasoline-powered civilian version of the military’s HMMWV troop transporter is mechanically related to the original. But with its wider stance and utilitarian interior design, this new version certainly has the presence of the military version. Fortunately, there are also a number of improvements over the original in addition to the drivetrain. This includes features like the Infinity Roof, which comes with your choice of transparent or opaque removable panels that fit neatly in the front storage compartment. There is also LED exterior lighting for better visibility, and it displays approach and walk-away animations while plugged in for charging.

Uncompromising Comfort
While the interior layout of the Hummer EV SUV was inspired by the military vehicle, it is even more spacious and considerably more luxurious. 12-way power seats let you dial in your most comfortable seating position exactly, and the air suspension provides an unbeatably smooth ride. The 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen gives you access to a wide range of functions, including a standard Bose® 14-speaker Surround with CenterPoint® audio system that delivers superior sound to go with the incredible performance of the Hummer EV. You can also access the Ultravision system, which gives you 17 different camera views to choose from, so visibility is never an issue, even underbody visibility. And while you’re on the highway driving from one adventure to another, there is available Super Cruise, a hands-free form of cruise control that lets you relax and refresh while you travel.
