Sales Consultant

Position Description Summary: The salesperson is responsible for assisting customers to discover a vehicle that best fits their needs and wants.

Duties & Responsibilities:

·       Approach, greet and offer assistance/direction to all customers who enter the dealership showroom or sales lot.

·       Assist customer in selecting a vehicle by asking questions and listening carefully to their responses

·       Offers test drives to customers and follows procedures to obtain proper identification prior to test drive

·       Fully explain product and all performance application and benefits

·       Be well informed of the product/car for sale and knowledgeable to answer questions related too; gas mileage, engine size, tire performance, horse power, etc.    

·       Describes all optional equipment available for purchase

·       Utilize dealership sale control follow up systems for ultimate customer satisfaction and sales

·       Establish personal goals that are consistent with dealership standards of productivity, and devise a strategy to meet/exceed these goals

·       Aware of federal, state and local laws which govern retail automobile sales

·       Attends product sales training courses and stays abreast of new products

·       Aware of equity and values and is able to clearly explain depreciation to customer

·       Ensures communication with the sales manager and allows the sales manager to interact with the customer

·       Completes sales orders and process all paperwork in accordance with established dealership expectations

·       Works closely with the Finance and Insurance Manager to properly complete all closed deals and ensures all necessary paperwork is completed; (i.e. Insurance information, trade, titles, etc.)

·       Prepares sold vehicle for customer delivery prior to customer arrival/delivery of vehicle

·       Delivers vehicle to customer and assists customer to understand vehicles operating features, warranty and paperwork

·       Introduces customer to service department and schedules first appointment

·       Follows up on post delivery items such as but not limited to; tag/title and other "we owe" items

·       Establish and maintain a follow up system which encourages repeat business & referrals

·       Review sale statistics daily, weekly, monthly and yearly to determine how to best meet the needs of the dealership and customers

·       Ability to meet & exceed dealership minimum selling expectations for monthly quotas

 

Qualifications:

·       High School Diploma or GED

·       Ability to handle oneself in a respectful manner

·       Must maintain valid Driver's License that meets dealership insurability requirements

 

Working Conditions:

·       Ability to work day shift/selling hours & hours may vary depending on company need

·       Ability to work Monday thru Saturday, although days vary depending on company need

·       Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function

 

 

Marginal Duties:

·       Maintain a professional appearance

·       Keep work area neat

·       Ability to speak clearly and in terms that the customer will understand

 

Physical Demands:

·       Ability to sit and stand with/out restrictions for 8 hours or more

·       Must be able to enter/exit a vehicle with no restrictions

·       Lifting up to 30lbs

·       Occasional reaching above head or below knees

·       Must be able to safely operate vehicles to transport them to/from detailing area

Technician

Essential Duties
• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Diagnoses vehicle problems based on customer complaints and inspection.
• Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
• Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
• Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
• Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
• Road tests vehicles.
• Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
• Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
• Inspects and test drives newly delivered vehicles for obvious damage and missing major components and drivability functions.
• Installs optional equipment specified by the customer or dealer.
• Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
• Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
• Keeps shop area neat and clean.
• Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received.
• Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
• Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
• Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
• Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

Mathematical Skills
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Lot Manager

Position Description Summary: The Lot Manager is responsible for parking vehicles and moving them from place to place. Additionally this position is responsible to clean cars, assist with light maintenance and upkeep of the dealership grounds including the service shop. Lot Manager will answer directly to General Sales Manager and General Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):

• Maintain new and used vehicle inventory appearance and performance by cleaning interior and exterior of vehicles, replenishing all vehicle fluids as needed and replacing batteries when needed
• Keeps a new, used vehicle lot, and showroom vehicles neat, and orderly, moving cars as directed by management and in accordance with dealership standards
• Cleans driveway and sidewalks by removing snow and debris as necessary
• Drives vehicles to and from service, service stalls, and parking lots as needed
• Cleans and readies deliveries for customers purchasing new and used vehicles
• Fuels, cleans, and checks in complimentary service vehicles and customers vehicles that serviced with us
• Makes key tags as needed
• Places buyer guides and stock tags in vehicles
• Checks in new and used vehicles off the trucks being delivered
• Transports vehicles (Lease returns, and new vehicles) to and from the retention lot on Mercantile.
• Maintains customer areas are clean and tidy i.e. coffee/waiting areas, restrooms, and any other customer area
• Accomplishes tasks assigned by management
• Maintains a professional appearance and attitude when working with customers and peers 
• Uses proper eye, hand and body protection when using products that require protection
• Operates all tools in a safe manner
• Reports all safety issues immediately to management
